Final Frame Post Completes Digital Intermediate for Peter and Vandy Feature Film (November 04, 2009) DMN Newswire--2009-11-4--Final Frame Post, a New York City based post production service provider announced that it provided the digital intermediate services for "Peter and Vandy," a feature written and directed by Jay DiPeitro and based on his award-winning play.  Peter and Vandy is about a young New York couple's relationship that unfolds in a non-linear fashion and told in non-chronological order.  It opened in limited release on Friday, October 9, 2009.

Will Cox, Final Frame Post co-founder and colorist, conformed, graded and digitally color corrected the material on their Digital Vision Nucoda Film Master system and Rising Sun Research's CineSpace for color management.  The data-centric workflow of the DI and the use of LUT's, allowed frame-by-frame interaction and great control over the look of the feature ensuring precise calibration of the post production process.  By incorporating the latest finishing technology, practices and techniques, Final Frame was able to offer the Director, Jay DiPeitro, the flexibility to satisfy his creative goals.

The content was stored on a 4GB SAN with Infortrend Arrays managed by metaSAN software. The SAN allowed Final Frame Post to color correct the 2K files natively and avoid proxies, which allowed them to dust bust and grain reduce at the same time.

Peter and Vandy was shot on Super 16mm film using 35mm lenses, was scanned on an Imagica scanner and output to 2K DPX files.

"After doing the DI for five other films at their facility, it was a no-brainer bringing Peter and Vandy to Final Frame Post," comments Geoffrey Richman, Peter and Vandy Editor.  "The director had a very specific color scheme in mind to identify different stages of the characters' relationship, and Final Frame delivered it beautifully -- from the initial color correct to the added scratch removal, grain reduction, and compositing work they did.  It's always a relief handing a cut over to Final Frame, knowing that the film will look its best no matter what the style or format of the footage is."

Final Frame Post's digital intermediate services have been used for many other releases including; Louie Psihoyos' documentary "The Cove," which won the Audience Award at Sundance, Noah Buschel's "The Missing Person," Marshall Curry's documentary "Racing Dreams," William Kunstler's documentary "Disturbing the Universe."

"Peter and Vandy" marks Jay DiPetro's feature-film directorial debut.  More information about Peter and Vandy can be found at: http://www.peterandvandy.com/
